Honorable Mentions were awarded to 27 young writers, who attend the above schools as well as Kettering Fairmont High School, Alter High School and Centerville High School.
Students write to the prompt, quotes that reflect Yeck’s philosophy that “Being Good + Doing Good = Being Happy.”
Dottie Yeck served as a member of the Washington-Centerville Board of Trustees for 28 years. The award was endowed in memory of her in 2006.
Each essay entered in the contest is judged twice, with no identifying student information, by independent professionals, including professors, authors, journalists and retired teachers.
