Bike from Tipp City, or just downtown, for Thanksgiving charity

Tomfoolery Outdoors, Bike Miami Valley, and FoodBank Dayton have partnered together to put on the second annual Gobbler Gives Bike Tour, where participants load their bikes with food to donate ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday and bring them straight to the FoodBank. A downtown Dayton lunch time ride takes place Nov. 19, and a 30+-mile roundtrip ride from Tomfoolery Outdoors in Tipp City to the Food Bank and back takes place Nov. 21. Photo source: Facebook

If you're still looking for ways to give back this Thanksgiving holiday, and also want to get a head start on working off those extra calories, biking up to 30 miles round trip to bring food to the less fortunate sounds like a good way to do it. And if you're not quite up to that distance, maybe a short jaunt through downtown Dayton would suffice?

Tomfoolery Outdoors in Tipp City has teamed up with FoodBank Dayton for a food delivery by bicycle: On Nov. 21, load up your baskets, backpacks, whatever you can with nonperishable food, then make the 17-mile trek from Adventures on the Great Miami to FoodBank Dayton, then enjoy live music, food and drinks, and a strong sense of accomplishment.

Then, bike 17 miles back!

If that is a little too much of a jaunt for you, Bike Miami Valley is joining in the fun for a shorter lunch time ride on Nov. 19 at 11:30 a.m. Fill up your baskets with food at Courthouse Square, drop your wares at FoodBank Dayton, and ride back to downtown knowing you did something productive before lunchtime that day. A portion of the proceeds benefit FoodBank Dayton.
