Organizers of this year's 42nd annual Italian Fall Festa are owed some fine weather by the weather gods after a near-washout in 2018 prompted them to create a drive-through "Grab 'n Go" operation to help sell the copious amounts of delicious Italian food that highlight the event each year.

And early forecasts suggest a fine, rain-free weekend appears to be in store for the Italian Fall Festa, which will be held from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6; noon to 11 p.m. Saturday; and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at 2625 County Line Road in Kettering.

“If you liked our food in the pouring-down rain, you’re going to love it in the sunshine,” Brian Andzik, the Italian Fall Festa’s chif organizer, said of this year’s event.

WHAT TO EAT

The food-filled festival features baked pasta dinners on Friday, stuffed shells on Saturday and spaghetti and meatballs on Sunday. Other Italian favorites that will be available throughout the weekend include calzones; sausage, meatball, Italian Beef and Muffaletta sandwiches; pizza; and Italian soups. At the Italian (of course) deli, festival-goers can dine on salads, breads and cheeses. Beer, wine, Italian beverages and soft drinks will be available to wash down the authentic homemade Italian dishes. A limited-edition Warped Wing brew, Limone Lager, will be available as supplies last.

And then there are the desserts: Italian cannolis, pastries, cakes, gelato and other items are available to eat at the Festa, or to take home.

There will be live Italian music, and, at 3 p.m. Sunday, the annual spaghetti-eating contest for both children and adults.
