The tasting will be led by certified Cicerone and beer journalist and educator David Nilsen of Greenville.
Nilsen will talk about the history behind Carillon Brewing Company's rustic beer styles while guiding attendees through a tasting of six 5-ounce samples.

One of the beers was brewed specifically for the event. Attendees will sample a Lichtenhainer, which Nilsen called “a historical German style that's very difficult to find from modern breweries.”
Carillon Brewing, which opened in 2014, makes beer using historical recipes and methods. The facility is designed and built to evoke an 1850s-era brewery, and offers free tours and demonstrations. Costumed “interpreters” at Carillon Brewing detail Dayton’s brewing history, and visitors can see how beer, cider, wine and root beer were made in the middle of the 19th Century.
