There’s one new wrinkle this year: every diner who participates is eligible to enter a sweepstakes for the chance to win Pancakes for Life, or one of thousands of other instant prizes, such as bikes, scooters and watches. The Pancakes for Life grand prize will be awarded in the form of gift cards with a total value of $15,000, according to IHOP’s web site.

Nationwide, the annual event also serves as a fund-raiser for multiple charities: Children’s Miracle Network hospitals, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Shriners Hospitals for Children, in part from customer donations. IHOP officials say the annual event has raised more than $30 million for charities to date, and is hoping to raise as much as $4 million this year.
