Dayton’s aspiring storytellers asked for it, and Dayton Story Slam is giving the people what they want.

The first “open” storytelling workshop ever is happening from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Wiley’s Comedy Club. Admission to Storytelling 101 is $5, however, it gets participants into their next Slam event for free.

“We will cover: The rules of the Story Slam format, how to craft a story for the stage, tips to Navigate the mic and lights and we will practice!  Join Bryan and Shelley for this casual night of learning getting comfy on the stage. New storytellers and veterans alike are invited,” according to the event page.

This is all taking place front and center of Wiley's Comedy Joint stage. There's no better time to get your chance in the limelight, before you "make it big." Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite.com.

Story Slams are the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
