Here are 5 things to know about the band, which will be playing several shows in the Dayton area this weekend for St. Patrick’s Day.

1.) Their roots. The band was founded at the Trolley Stop. Quentin Marsh received his Bachelors in Music Education at University of Dayton. Joey Hall received his Masters Degree in education from Wright State University.

2.) Music reigns supreme. Each member has been playing, learning and surrounded by music from young age. Joey Hall's father was a mandolin player and dance caller. Shawn Hall's father was also a mandolin player. Quentin Marsh started classical training at 7-years old. Liz Marsh started classical piano lessons at 7-years old. John "Preacher" Johnston began singing and playing in the 3rd grade. Stephanie Garner's parents also influenced her passion in music from a young age.

3.) Three decades together. The band has been together for 29 years since its founding in Dayton in 1989.

4.) No strangers to touring. The band has traveled all over the world and currently has tour dates set for North Carolina, Indiana, Ohio, Ireland and Kentucky.

5.) Rich history. Authenticity and tradition is at the heart of their songs and performances, and as such, their style involves a lot of story telling. "We have include many of these stories in our liner notes on the digipak so that we can help keep the songs "alive." That is the most important part to us." said Shawn Hall in a press release to this news organization.
