MIAMISBURG — Runners have the perfect chance to earn an extra slice of pumpkin pie at the 35th annual Ohio River Runners Club (ORRRC) City of Miamisburg Turkey Trot. The five or one mile timed walk/run races will be held on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, beginning at 8 a.m.
The Annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot race is the River Runners largest event of the year with over 10,000 participants and is a family tradition that has served many generations of Miami Valley citizens. All types of runners and walkers are welcome from the serious racer to the beginner.
In celebration of its 35th year, the Turkey Trot will feature and all new 5-mile race course designed and laid out by Carol Bennett and measured and certified by Felix LaBlanc. During the past 35 years of the Turkey Trot, the course has only been changed seven times.
The new course is primarily flat and downhill with the only uphill running at the start of the course. The new course layout begins on Mound Avenue in front of Mound Labs and ends at the finish line on Vanguard Boulevard. There will be a refreshment tent past the finish line.

In celebration of 35th Anniversary of the ORRRC City of Miamisburg Turkey Trot, the first 10,000 people registered will receive a long sleeve sweatshirt with an embroidered turkey and ORRRC down the right sleeve as well as an official Ohio River Road Runners running hat. These items are valued at over $40.

Volunteer opportunities include:
- Packet pickup on Nov. 27 from 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. and 3-7 p.m. and on race day Nov. 28 from 6 a.m. until race time.
- Registration on Nov. 27 from 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. and 3-7 p.m.
- Start and Finish Line Volunteers– there will be a need for approximately 10 people for the start line and 10 people for the finish line from 6 a.m. until the race is finished.
- Course Marshals will be needed at intersections and corners (a Mound Amateur Radio person will also be at these corners and possibly a Miamisburg police officer).
- Greeters will welcome and direct runners on Nov. 27, 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. and 3-7 p.m. and on Nov. 28, 6 a.m.-race time.
- Race Day Monitors will be needed to help with exchanges of shirts and to sell leftover shirts as well as assist runners from the finish to the food tent and look for runners needing help from 8-11 a.m.
- Pre-race Workday Volunteers on Nov. 25, 1- 8 p.m. to set up Turkey Trot Central, unpack supplies and anything else that needs done. Come the entire time or any portion of the work day.
