Dayton Metro Library, downtown branch
Dayton Metro Library joins the festivities this year, not only offering free comics while supplies last, but also hosting free film screenings, escape rooms, gaming and more.
Free Comic Book Day activities run from 10:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at the Main Library, 215 E. Third Street, Dayton. Activities are geared toward adults, teens and older children, and everything is free.
Highlighting the lineup of activities at the Main Library are Harry Potter and Star Wars themed Escape Rooms, with sessions offered on the hour or half-hour throughout the afternoon. Comic book collector Tony Woltermann leads a presentation on Comic Book Collecting for Beginners at 11 a.m.
An enthusiastic collector himself, Woltermann offers advice on creating, maintaining and evaluating a comic book collection, with tips on buying and selling.
The Green Screen Room will be open from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., with props, backgrounds, and assistance available so that participants can put themselves into their own action video. An Anime Marathon runs from 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., while blockbuster superhero films for all ages are screened throughout the day.
