Here is a rundown of three of the Dayton area’s most festive holiday tours and how to take them.

🎄 OREGON DISTRICT GRAND HOLIDAY TOUR OF HOMES

Description: eight lavishly decorated residences built between 1836 and 1931 will participate in this year's tour.

Now in its 40th year, organizers say the daytime self-guided tour allows visitors the opportunity to enjoy the neighborhood’s Victorian architecture featuring Classic Revival, Italianate and Eastlake styles at their own pace.
Tour participants will start at the meeting house to check in, receive a wrist band and a tour book, organizers say.
The tour book includes a map to the homes, histories of each home on tour as well as architectural information.
Hot cocoa and mulled cider with all the fixings will be served at the neighborhood gazebo following each tour.
Volunteers will wear period cloaks and hats.
The tour is the primary fund-raiser for the Oregon Historic District, which maintains street lights, entry ways and the neighborhood park.
🎄 OAKWOOD HISTORICAL SOCIETY’S SECOND ANNUAL HOLIDAY HOME TOUR

When: 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. Tickets are $20 and non-refundable.

Description:The tour includes seven architecturally unique homes as well as the Long-Romspert House Museum, the Oakwood Historical Society's ticket site says.
The event replaced the society’s annual Christmas Open House two years ago.

Homes on the self-guided tour are within a half-mile radius in the Oakwood neighborhood known as Hatcher Hills. Guests will learn about the life and times of Oakwood’s earliest industrialists and socialites, the community’s oldest winery, the Kuntz lumber dynasty, and the Wright Brothers’ first patent attorney, the ticket site says.
Docents will be in each home to explain to explain the history.

Vans will shuttle guests between the last house on the tour, and the Long-Romspert Homestead House Museum located at 1947 Far Hills Ave., where appetizers and festive beverages will be served. There will also be tours of the museum.

🎄 A DICKENS OF A CHRISTMAS: ST. ANNE'S HILL HISTORIC DISTRICT'S HOLIDAY TOUR 2019
When: 40 tour times Friday, Dec. 13; Saturday, Dec. 14 and Sunday, Dec. 15

Description: Volunteers dressed in period costumes will guide guest on a walking tour of victorian homes decorated for the season's festivities, the event's ticket site says.
Tour ends with old-fashioned Christmas desserts served at the historic Bossler Mansion.
Guests can also stop by Victoria's Parlor Gift Shop, which will feature unique gift items handmade by residents and friends of St. Anne's Hill.
Proceeds from this event go toward preserving the character and integrity of our historic neighborhood, the event’s ticket site says.
