What is green wine?

You can taste, smell and learn all about it at one of Dayton's most popular summer spots for tastes, starting at just $3. On Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Lily's Bistro will have a special addition to its popular event, Patio Pounders. There will be a selection of "green" wines, meaning they are either organic, sustainable or biodynamic and all made in eco-friendly ways, according to the event page.

“In keeping with our commitment to sustainably-sourced ingredients, we’ve been adding more eco-friendly wines to our list. We wanted to offer an event that introduces some of these as well as some wines we are bringing in special for the event,” said Emily Mendenhall, owner of Lily’s Bistro. “These ‘green’ wines showcase ways that winemakers utilize organic grapes, sustainable farming methods, biodynamic farming methods, or a combination. They’re also really delicious and great for summer.”

Anyone interested in going can purchase four advance taste tickets for $10 online at eventbrite.com. Tastes are $3 per taste at the event. Registration online does not guarantee you a seat at the event, but Lily's beautiful patio will be open for mingling and guests can stay as long as they like.

As usual, Lily’s will also have regular Tuesday special pricing on select bottles and glasses of wine, along with the Bistro’s usual dinner and snacking menu.
