Celebrate your family at Summer Sky

Sponsored by Clark County Family and Children Services, this occasion is a huge party for the whole family.

“Our purpose with this event is to give a positive family experience for people in the community,” said Pam Meermans, deputy director of Family and Children Services.

There are tons of free activities and events planned, including COSI’s Mobile Science Stations. The Columbus Zoo is bringing exotic animals and there will be giant inflatables on which to jump and slide. Boonshoft Museum of Discovery’s will present native animals and the Bugman and will show his collection of Bugs and Glen Helen’s raptors will be there. There will be crafts and carnival games, a juggler, a puppet show and more.

“We are also raffling off over 100 items including gift cards, prizes and back to school supplies from local businesses,” said Meermans. “Wynette Carter-Smith will be our DJ for the day. It is really a lot of fun – everyone should come out.”

Family and Children Services will have a booth with information about foster and adoptive parenting.

“We are looking for people interested in fostering and adoption,” said Meermans. “But you don’t have to be interested in fostering or adoption to come to this event. It’s for everyone. All ages and all family members are encouraged to come. We work with a lot of families who are stressed. So this is a way of providing a fun family activity for the community.”

This is the 4th year for Summer Sky.

“It’s a great way to support and promote healthy family relationships,” said Meermans.
