DIY for Cheap: Flag wreath

Fourth of July is just around the corner, so it’s time to get a little more patriotic in your decorating. This week, we are going to celebrate the red, white and blue with this flag-inspired wreath. It is easy to make and will greet your guests with that welcoming American spirit.

Supplies needed

Items I Purchased:

• 2 packs of wooden clothes pins (36 per pack) - $1 each at the Dollar Tree

• Flat wreath form - $2.99 at Michael’s Arts and Crafts

• Wooden stars - $3.49 at Michael’s Arts and Crafts

Items I Already Had:

• Paint brush

• Hot glue gun

• Navy blue acrylic paint

• White acrylic paint

• Red acrylic paint

Directions

1. Remove the clothespins from their packaging. You will paint 24 of the clothespins white, another 24 red and the final 24 blue. You will only need to paint one side of each pin and the edges around that side. Once dry, apply a second coat.

2. Take your wooden stars and paint these white. Make sure to get around the edge of the stars as well. Let dry.

3. Once everything has been painted, it is time to assemble. Clip six of your red pins to the wreath form. Making sure to put them tightly together. Repeat this step with six white pins directly beside the red. Continue this step, alternating white and red, until you have used all of your red and white pins. In the space that is left, add your blue pins.

4. Arrange your stars directly on top of your blue pins. Once happy with your layout, use your hot glue gun and secure them in place. Now, your wreath is ready to hang!
