DIY project: candy cane tree

The turkey has been eaten and it is time to start thinking about Christmas decorations. This week’s first decoration is fun and festive and takes no time at all to make. For $7.99, we made this great candy cane tree that can add a little color to any home.

You will need

Items I purchased:

• Styrofoam cone — $5.99 at Michaels

• Two bags of dinner mints — $1 each at Dollar Tree

Items I already had:

• Glue sticks

• Glue gun

• Glass candle stick

Directions

1. Unwrap your two bags of candy and place them in a dish.

2. Starting at the bottom of your foam cone, begin gluing your candy mints around the base.

3. Continue moving upwards until the entire foam cone is covered.

4. Place one mint at the very top of the cone to bring it more to a point.

5. Place your foam cone on top of a candlestick and display.

Tip: Experiment with sizes and colors. Rather than doing just red and white, why not do one that is red and white, another that is green and white mints or one that is a mixture of both. Groupings of three trees at different heights could turn into a great holiday centerpiece.
