SHOW YOUR WORK

Bringing natural elements into your home decoration doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg. For example, this twig vase cost me just $2.99 to make, and it brings texture and warmth to any style.
You can use this same technique on numerous other spaces such as mirrors, picture frames, baskets and much more. Just be creative and let Mother Nature be your guide.
You will need
Purchased:
• Glass votive holder with straight sides - $1 at Dollar Tree
• Ribbon or Raffia - $1.99 at Hobby Lobby
Items I already had around the house:
• Sticks from yard
• Hot glue gun
• Glue sticks
• Scissors
Directions
1. Clean your votive container and remove all tags from the outside.
2. Go outside and collect a variety of sizes and differently shaped sticks. If you don’t have trees near you, then head to a park and collect the sticks off the ground. Do not remove branches from trees. This could hurt the trees if not removed properly.
3. Once you have collected enough sticks, start hot gluing them around your votive. Try to keep the bottom edge flush with the bottom of the holder, but the tops can vary in height.
4. To add more texture and cover up additional bare spots on your votive holder, layer sticks on top of one another.
5. Once you go around all four sides of the votive holder and are happy with your project, take a decorative ribbon, rope or raffia and tie it around the vase. I like to use raffia because it adds a little color but still has a natural look and feel.
