How to assist group serveing people with disabilities

The Better Business Bureau has recently announced that United Rehabilitation Services of Greater Dayton is a 2012 Eclipse Integrity Awards finalist. These awards are given to Miami Valley businesses and nonprofits that model ethics, honesty and integrity for the community.

The nonprofit organization has a 56-year history and helps people affected by cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, Muscular Dystrophy, autism and Alzheimer’s.

Programs at the center include child care and latchkey for children with disabilities, and including critical care nursing services and therapies for medically fragile individuals. The programs are supplemented through in-home personal care, respite care and parent support groups.

Adult programs include daycare, vocational training, community employment and respite care.

“The ultimate goal is to increase skills and independence of children and adults with disabilities,” says Vivian O’Connell, communications and special events manager.
