Hundreds of people turn out Saturday, April 16, as Omega Music in the Oregon District celebraties national Record Store Day with live music and special deals on recordings.

Put down the iPod, grab your shoes, we’re going old school today.

Multiple area music stores are celebrating Record Store Day. A day of acknowledgment for independent record stores across the world by releasing limited edition records to only those stores.

Omega Records on 5th Street is just one local shop joining in the festivities with live music until 10:30 p.m. and promotional giveaways such as t-shirts and records, says an Omega employee.

Other local record stores celebrating are Disk Exchange and Toxic Beauty Records.

Toxic Beauty says this day is all about “getting records into people’s hands.”

The shop is raffling off two three day passes to Bunbury Music Festival in Cincinnati and have created a ticket scavenger hunt in the store for other concerts and events.
