Mummy, are we going on holiday? Do I have to go to bed straightaway?
American parents have reported that their kids are picking up British accents and vocabulary from watching Nickelodeon show “Peppa Pig.”
The animated show, which is created in the U.K. and uses a British voice cast, is shown around the world for preschoolers.
“Yeah I can voice for the #PeppaEffect in our house. Tayla absolutely lapses into a slight Brit accent and vocabulary, and uses the word ‘straightaway’ more than I ever have in my life! 😜” tweeted Eddie Painter.
Other parents reported similar results.
English Twitter, of course, was satisfied with the result.
Other non-Americans pointed out normally their kids pick up Americanisms from watching our television. This is just one small case of the reverse.
