Perfume that smells like Cheetos?

Cheeteau scent described as ‘college dorm room’

The thought of a perfume that smells like Cheetos — yeah, the cheese-flavored snack — had us smelling a rat, but evidentally, Cheeteau is a really thing and this is not April Fool’s Day prank.

Such a scent isn’t exactly unheard of. In fact, Cheetos seems to be following in some saucy foot prints.

Cheetos gave away hundreds of bottles of the perfume billed as the newest fragrance from its mascot Chester Cheetah today in New York.

Bottles were also sent to media outlets and a YouTube video about the scent that mentions "fermented passion" has been viewed nearly 900,000 by the time this blog was posted.

The company is hosting a Twitter photo contest and says 100 bottles will be given to winners.

Examine this post to Facebook from the Frito Lay company:

“Follow @ChesterCheetah and tweet us your cheesiest model-faced selfie with #CheesySelfie starting at 10am CT for a chance to get your nose on the smell of hunger.

The New York Daily News says Cheetos assured it that this is no prank, but part of a marketing campaign.

The newspaper reports that the fragrance was created by “Demeter, the perfume company known for unusual eaus such as Dirt, Saddle, and the recent Pizza.”

The Daily News’ staff wasn’t exactly impressed by scent by Cheeteau.

“It smells like a college dorm room,” one of its tester said. “It’s the perfect cologne — if you want dogs to chase you down the street.”

The Huffington Post was disappointed.

“It’s nauseating” was the best review out of that outlet’s office.

Oh, well. There is always bacon.
