The Learning Tree Farm needs supplies, repairs

Our weekly series of wish lists items from area nonprofit organizations continues this week with the Learning Tree Farm.

Founded in 1973, the farm makes learning fun and functional, teaching kids science and culture in a farm setting. Nearly 6,500 students a year from eight counties visit the farm.

Executive Director Pat Rau says the farm is really feeling the effects of this difficult winter.

“The animals have not suffered, but the use of extra supplies has caused a financial strain,” she says.

What they need

Animal feed and hay (eating grass is almost impossible in this weather)

Straw

Help with a leaky roof

Gutters and downspouts (60 feet of drip edge, rain gutter and downspouts)

Grass seed

Fencing for the pastures to repair damaged fences

In addition, the farm can use sturdy garden tools for the kids to use during programs such as hoes, rakes, shovels and feed bins for the animals in the barns

How to donate

Items can be dropped off from 8 a.m. to noon Mondays through Fridays or by appointment by calling (937) 866-8650. Donations are tax-deductible.
