At least one person is dead and westbound Interstate 70 is closed after a crash between a car and a semi truck in Brookville Wednesday afternoon.

Lavan Stark, 29, of Dayton was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Dayton Post.

The westbound lanes of I-70 were closed starting at the Ohio 49 exit, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation’s OHGO map.

OSHP said that the crash was reported around 2:22 p.m. on the highway just west of Arlington Road.

Early investigation found that Stark was driving a Buick LeSabre on I-70 in the right lane when he tried to turn left into the emergency vehicle crossover in the center median, the highway patrol said.

When he turned, the car was hit by a Kenworth commercial truck, which then crashed into the trailer of another truck in the right lane, OSHP said.

Stark suffered fatal injuries due to the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by Brookville Fire and EMS, according to the release.

The highway was reopened at 5:01 p.m.
