Stimulus on the way. Our calculator shows you how much you could get.

Most Americans are about to receive direct deposit payments as part of a bipartisan bill to provide relief during the coronavirus pandemic, with some payments hitting bank accounts as soon as Tuesday night.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin posted on social media that payments already started to go out and will continue into next week. Paper checks will begin to be mailed Wednesday, he said.

Our stimulus calculator below will show you how much your household could get.

The $900 billion package Congress passed a week ago and signed Sunday night by President Donald Trump calls for $600 to adults with incomes up to $75,000 and couples making $150,000 per year, plus another $600 for each child. Those earning more than $75,000 also can receive stimulus money on a sliding scale based on qualifications.

Trump at the last minute pushed for $2,000 checks, and when Democrats tried to change the amounts, Republicans in Congress balked.

However, the House voted overwhelmingly Monday to increase the COVID-19 relief checks to $2,000, meeting Trump’s demand for bigger payments. The Senate GOP on Tuesday blocked the attempt to pass the larger stimulus checks, so they will remain at $600 for most Americans.
