Interstate 75 has reopened after icy conditions temporarily closed the highway near downtown Dayton Tuesday morning.

Dayton police announced the northbound lanes were closing near U.S. 35 shortly after 10:30 a.m. and added southbound lanes were closing just before 11 a.m.

The closure allowed road crews to salt and treat the highway.

It came after multiple crashes were reported on I-75 that appeared to be related to the weather, according to Dayton police.

At least one crash was reported on I-75 North near Salem Avenue around 9:58 a.m. and another crash was reported on I-75 South near Second Street.

It’s not clear how many vehicles were involved. At least one minor injury was reported.

“Vehicles that were involved in crashes have been removed and salt trucks have been able to treat roads,” said Dayton police. “Remember to please drive carefully no matter the road because there could be slick areas due to the temperature.”
