Man accused of setting fire to motel room with people inside indicted

A 36-year-old man was indicted Friday after prosecutors say he intentionally set fire to a room late last year at a Days Inn while people were inside.

Christopher Paul Barker was indicted on one count of aggravated arson by a Montgomery County grand jury. He is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.

Barker is accused of setting a fire Dec. 29, 2020, inside a room at the motel, 7470 Miller Lane in Butler Twp., according to a spokesman for the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office.

Barker is in the Montgomery County Jail, where he has been held since Dec. 30 following his arrest by Butler Twp. police.
