Man whose body was pulled from Great Miami River ID’d

A man whose body was pulled Tuesday from the Great Miami River in Dayton has been identified.

Scott R. Nichols, 30, is the person recovered from the river, but his cause and manner of death have not been determined, Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger said.

Nichols was found in the water near Monument Avenue. He had no known address, according to the coroner’s office.

Dayton police Lt. Matt Beavers said Tuesday that it was unclear how long Nichols had been in the water and that investigators were unable to determine signs of foul play when they recovered the body.
