Dayton police and firefighters removed two bodies from the Great Miami River Monday afternoon in an area where crews were searching for a missing girl and man Thursday and Friday.

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office will identify the deceased and determine the cause of death.

Crews responded to the Great Miami River near the West Monument Avenue bridge around 1:20 p.m. Monday after a caller said they saw a body in the water, according to Dayton police.

“I’m walking across the bridge and I’m looking out at the water and I do believe it’s a body right here,” the caller said in a 911 call released by Montgomery County Regional Dispatch.

The caller said the body appeared to be female and was facedown in the middle of the river.

It’s not clear if the female recovered is related to a missing girl and man whose family vehicle was found nearby last week in the parking lot near Code Credit Unit at 335 W. Monument Ave.

Scarlibeth Garcia Montes and Oscar Garcia were last seen around 5:45 a.m. Thursday.

Dayton police said crews found a child’s shoes, socks, keys, a tablet and a cellphone near the Great Miami River.

Crews searched the area for Garcia Montes and Garcia on Thursday and Friday.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Fire Department dive team, Piqua Fire Department dive team, Five Rivers MetroParks rangers, Huber Heights Police Division and Texas EquuSearch assisted in the search.

On Friday Dayton police Lt. Randy Beane said there was no evidence Garcia Montes and Garcia were in the water.
