The case is part of a felonious assault investigation when a person was seriously injured during a July 11 attack by two dogs near Richmond and Niagara avenues.
Derrick Lee Purter, 38, is accused of “siccing” his pitbulls on the victim, according to Dayton Municipal Court records.
The incident was captured on cellphone video and turned over to officers.
Police initially couldn’t speak to the victim because they were in surgery for their injuries.
They later told investigators they were assaulted by a man and his dogs, according to court documents.
They allegedly called the attacker Derrick Porter initially and later identified Purter as the suspect during a photographic lineup.
Purter was charged with one count of felonious assault and a warrant was issued for his arrest Wednesday, according to court records.
On Friday, he reportedly ignored multiple commands by SOFAST crew, so officers entered the house and took him into custody.
Two dogs were seized and turned over to the Montgomery County Animal Resource Center.
The investigation is ongoing.
