Due to the location and nature of the break, Mad River Road was closed to through traffic, or vehicles driving through the area, between Penbrooke Drive and Fox Run.
Montgomery County Environmental Services announced the road was open shortly after 2:30 p.m.
The road was closed while crews completed necessary repairs for the safety of motorists and repair personnel.
Drivers were encouraged to use Penbrooke Drive and Fox Run as the primary detour routes.
