Phil Poggi, Athletic Director for Kings Local School District, said due to the success of the annual event, this major fundraiser for the Kings Athletic Booster Club has become a summertime tradition.
Efforts like this one have minimized the financial impact of athletics on the district’s operating budget.
“Events such as the KABC Golf Outing and Knight to Remember, as well as efforts by our boosters throughout the year, have allowed Kings not to impose a pay-to-participate fee up to this point,” Poggi explained.
The 14th annual golf outing will take place Sunday, Aug. 12 at its new location, Walden Ponds Golf Course, 6090 Golf Club Lane in Fairfield, with a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m.
The day will include a round of golf, tee prize package, a dinner catered by Buck’s Tavern, an opportunity to win contests and a day of camaraderie for golfers of all ages and abilities.
Registration begins at noon. The cost is $125 per individual golfer or $400 per foursome, which also includes a riding cart, on course drink tickets, hole contests presented by Performance Lexus and team and proximity prizes.
“Money raised from the Golf Outing beginning this year will go to help us maintain our athletic facilities. In the past, money went to support the general sports programs’ operating budgets,” Poggi explained.
Poggi said the success of the event was due in large part to “Walden Ponds and their staff, as well as our presenting sponsor Buck’s Tavern and Dan Egan. … Without either of them, we would not be able to host this event.”
