The incident took place Nov. 27 at 1932 Palisades Drive in Harrison Twp. in which Benson and an unidentified 18-year-old man were shot at the Northland Village Apartments.
The 18-year-old is still recovering from a gunshot wound, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Detectives identified Willis as a possible suspect. Willis had an active warrant issued by Cincinnati Police for aggravated burglary and abduction.
While working with Cincinnati police, Montgomery County detectives located Willis in Cincinnati and he was taken into custody for the Cincinnati warrant Dec. 22.
Detectives presented their investigation to Montgomery County prosecutors Dec. 23, and after review, prosecutors approved a warrant to be filed against Willis for the following charges: murder; two counts of felonious assault; two counts of tampering with evidence; and two counts of aggravated robbery.
Each charge carries a three-year firearm specification with it for the use of a firearm in the commission of the crime.
