Coupon Shopping Gains Momentum In Tough Economic Times

With all of the uncertainty on Wall Street, more people are resorting to old-fashioned ways of cutting corners, including the use of coupons.

The tough economy is giving coupon-cutting a new-found boost.

Dawn Becker who lives in Kettering said, “It usually cuts bottom line a little bit. Every little bit helps right now.”

It may be time-consuming to sort through the Sunday coupon section looking for the items that you want, but for some shoppers it is worth every minute.

Another shopper, Pat Miller, is one of many who have started to rely more on coupons.

Miller said, “I buy a lot of cat food and dog food. They save me on whatever I’m buying."

Some people have even turned to the Internet to find some good deals online. Web sites such as www.hotcouponworld.com and www.couponmom.com provide coupons that can be printed out.

You can find deals on food, furniture and car repair.

Joshua Lawson who works for Jiffy Lube said, “Most people don’t want to pay a lot of money for oil changes. Coupons definitely help, especially for something as important as an oil change.”

Lawson said he is shocked to see how many people are actually using the paper discounts in his shop.

One shopper said it is important to buy want you need, not what you want.
