2 agencies make arrest in daytime burglaries

Police hope the arrest of a 33-year-old Centerville man will put an end to recent daytime burglaries.

Zachary S. Elcess was arrested Friday as he was leaving the area of a daytime burglary in West Carrollton, according to a release from Centerville police.

Investigators from Centerville and West Carrollton worked together to make the arrest after Elcess was identified as a possible suspect in recent daytime burglaries in the Centerville/Washington Twp. area, according to the release.

He became a possible suspect when he was pulled over by Centerville police shortly after a burglary on June 4, according to the release.

Police said officers recovered “a substantial amount of stolen property” during a search of Elcess’ home that link the suspect to several of those burglaries.

Elcess is being held in the Montgomery County Jail on suspicion of burglary, a third degree felony.
