Springfield police said there was a report of an armed man around an apartment complex near John Street. The school was put on lock down from 9:02 a.m. to 9:11 a.m, Superintendent Rick Smith said.

“We heard there was an incident near the school,” Smith said. “We decided to go into a shelter in place until we found out what was going on.”

Investigators said they checked the scene on John Street and found nothing.

Students then resumed their regular class schedule.
