Coroner: Body found in Trotwood had been hanging by rope from a tree

TROTWOOD — A body found hanging by a rope from a tree Saturday in Trotwood was that of a man in his 20s, a Montgomery County coroner’s investigator said Monday.

The coroner’s office is to do an autopsy on Tuesday and may need to use DNA samples to identify the body, which had been decomposing, coroner’s investigator Jim Fannin said. For now, the cause of death is listed as undetermined, Fannin said.

Police received a 911 call and found the body at about 9:15 a.m. Saturday, along a creek that runs between Gardendale and Freudenberger avenues.

Trotwood police are awaiting the coroner’s identification of the body, Sgt. Brent Rasor said Monday. Rasor said he had no new details of the investigation.
