A Hamilton man facing multiple felony charges for allegedly filming children nude and in a sex act waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Monday morning in Hamilton Municipal Court.

Johnanthony Boyd, 20, of the 1200 block of Vine Street, was arrested by Hamilton detectives on May 24 and booked into the Butler County Jail.

Boyd is charged with six counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material and two counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor.

Boyd appeared briefly before Judge Gattermeyer with his attorney Richard Hyde, who said after talking with Boyd, they determined “it is best now to enter into a waiver.”

Gattermeyer sent the case directly to a Butler County grand jury for consideration.

A police report was filed in March stating a witness received a photograph of a minor in a state of nudity, and an investigation began at that time, according to Hamilton Sgt. Richard Burkhardt.

The arrest report from Officer Mark Nichols states Boyd allegedly took “three videos of two different minor children under the age of 13 years old. The defendant took videos of their breast and (genitalia).”

Police say Boyd recorded a video of an 11-year-old child performing a sex act on him. All the images were in Boyd’s possession on his phone, according to the arrest report.

A woman with a child said she was concerned about Boyd’s behavior when he was still a teen, stating he sent photos of his genitalia to her and others, she told the Journal-News on the condition of anonymity.

“He sent stuff to three women, and all of us have small children,” the Hamilton woman said, adding she deleted the photos and did not make a police report. “I saw his arrest report. I think what he was really trying then was to take pictures of our children.”
