Inskeep said grief counselors were available for students or staff who requested them.
“What we’re facing today more and more is the fact that, culturally, we’ve got to be prepared for anything to happen at any time,” Inskeep said. “I think it’s something that, in my business, especially, we just, you hope you never have to deal with. Anytime you lose a child, it’s just a horrific thing.”
Inskeep said he wasn’t aware of any disciplinary issues with Jones, who he said was in college preparatory classes and on track to graduate after transferring from Miamisburg High School during his sophomore year.
“Nothing that I’ve been made aware of by the administrators, or faculty, or staff there,” Inskeep said. “Nor any behaviors or anything that would have made anyone believe that any type of an action like this was inevitable for this young man.”
Inskeep said social media postings Tuesday first made the Fairmont community aware that something happened involving one of their students. “We’re always prepared and we have to be ready,” Inskeep said. “These events can happen at any time.”
Fairmont student Timmy Townsend said his friends that knew Jones were “wrecked.”
Trotwood police said two guns were found inside and shell casings were found inside and outside a Cadillac that was running outside a residence on Curundu Avenue. There were bullet holes in the front of the car.
“Pass away that way, it’s stuff you see in movies,” Townsend said. “Don’t expect to see it happen here.”
Court records indicate that Sosa — who lived close to where the car was located — had been apprehended for misdemeanor assault and criminal damaging last year. No information about any potential juvenile record for Jones was available Wednesday afternoon.
