The sunroom and a bedroom were destroyed. An upstairs office also sustained damages, according to the homeowner, James Ashe.
Ashe said they were out shopping in Vandalia when they were informed their house was on fire.
He said they won't be able to stay in the home until repairs are made.
He said they are making arrangements to find another place to stay.
The cause was not immediately known.
