Friends to hold benefit for dragging victim

MONROE — Friends of Jae Cho, the Monroe man who died after he was struck and dragged by an SUV, will hold a benefit in his honor to help with funeral expenses.

The benefit will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at Sammy’s Gourmet Burgers and Beer in Blue Ash, where 31-year-old Cho, a University of Cincinnati graduate, worked as a server. Proceeds will help pay for Cho’s funeral and burial expenses.

Kristina Hensley, 35, of Higginsport, Ohio, was the driver of the maroon sport utility vehicle police said struck Cho in the early morning hours of Aug. 8 in front of his home at 367 Timrick Place, dragging him more than a mile to a Hamilton-Lebanon Road Shell gas station.

Monroe police officer Gregg Myers said when Cho was struck, his leg was caught in the transmission and he was dragged approximately 1.3 miles.

According to police, Hensley is an exotic dancer for Naughty Bodies and was hired for a private show at Cho’s home. Hensley told police Cho tried to sexually assault her and she left with Cho following her to the street, authorities said, a claim his friends vehemently deny.

Hensley has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident and is still being held at the Butler County Jail on a $50,000 bond. Her case is waiting to be considered by a Butler County grand jury.

Sammy’s is located at 4767 Creek Road, Blue Ash.
