‘Ghost Robber’ sentenced to 9 years in prison

A 32-year-old Dayton man police and prosecutors call the “Ghost Robber” has been sentenced to nine years in prison for his involvement in 12 cases for a number of criminal offenses.

Romero Battigaglia Jr., who learned his fate in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court on Thursday, earned the moniker because of his tendency to wear a hat and wrap his face in cloth, county Prosecutor Mat Heck Jr.’s office said.

Heck said, “This defendant committed crimes all over Montgomery County. Thankfully, no one was injured in any of his crimes, but clearly, this defendant is a menace to our community. Locked up, behind bars, is the only way to ensure he will not commit more robberies.”
