A 19-year-old man killed in Huber Heights on Sunday is the latest area homicide victim.
Several shooting have occurred in Montgomery County this year, including two recent fatalities in Trotwood, where there have been six homicides in 2018.
Evan Lewis has been identified as the victim in the Huber Heights homicide after he was found at the corner of Bellefontaine Road and Hilgeford Drive on Sunday afternoon, police said.
The most recent Trotwood fatality occurred July 26 after a 17-year-old male was shot by the manager of an auto repair shop after the teen allegedly pointed a gun, police said.
Here are five other shootings – four of them fatal — in the county this year:
•MAY 28: A 19-year-old Sinclair College student was killed in his parents’ Huber Heights garage on Charnwood Drive around 3 a.m. after police said a male approached Sorin Farcas and a friend before shooting Farcas.
Tylin Watson, 18, is in the Montgomery County Jail and charged with murder in connection with the fatality, county records show.
•MAY 19: A 62-year-old Dayton woman was killed in a drive-by shooting on North Euclid Avenue. Sherrell Wheatley was struck down as she was walking near a house police believe was targeted in the gunfire.
The homicide was three doors down from a 2006 shooting of an 89-year-old woman was shot in both legs while watching television.
•MAY 8: A 25-year-old Dayton woman was killed in a shooting in the 1900 block of Palisades Drive about 1 a.m. About 12 hours after Jeniqua L. Morrow was shot, Deangela Ciera Jones, 32, was booked in the Montgomery County Jail, authorities said.
Jones was one of three women deputies said they talked to when they arrived at the scene of the shooting. She remains in the county jail on a murder charge, records show.
•APRIL 14: A 27-year-old Dayton man was killed in an afternoon shooting. Tyree L. Mitchell was found shot inside a white car in a parking lot in back of the apartment complex on Midway Avenue, police said.
The car Mitchell was found in was in back of the Whitmore Arms Apartments, according to police.
•MARCH 13: A Dayton gathering spot was the site of two non-life threatening shootings about 1:15 a.m. Freddie Langston and Ashia Brown were shot at Dee Jay’s Party Room on Hoover Avenue.
