Jury indicts armed robbery suspect

A man facing prison time for leading police on a chase in the snow in March has now been indicted on a first degree felony charge of aggravated robbery.

James Dyer III, 27, was wanted on a warrant for a 2011 armed robbery when he fled police March 6.

The Monte Carlo he was driving slid around several turns on snow-covered streets, knocking over the stop sign at Peach Tree Avenue and Kings Highway, before crashing and getting stuck at Blueberry and Hickorydale avenues, according to police reports.

He then fled on foot and was apprehended hiding in some bushes. He was convicted in May of failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer and sentenced to one year in prison.

Now he will go to court to face the aggravated robbery charge which stems from an incident in October of 2011.
