On Feb. 23, police and fire crews responded to a house fire on Vera Place. Dong left the home with food cooking in the kitchen, police say, and the unattended food caused a fire. Firefighters rescued his three granddaughters, ages 6, 4 and 2 years old, from the house.
Dong was served a summons in lieu of arrest, after the prosecutor's office reviewed the case.
Endangering children is a first-degree misdemeanor and could result in a $1,000 fine and/or a six-month jail sentence.
