Local woman who shot husband on ‘Dr. Phil’

A Beavercreek woman serving prison time for shooting her husband of 21 years, and father of her three children, appeared on the Dr. Phil show on Thursday.

Leah Severt is serving four years for shooting Charles “Ed” Severt five times in the ear and shoulder with a .357 Smith & Wesson revolver, on Sept. 14, 2010. He survived. It was her boyfriend, Mark Roysdon, a former Dayton and Miamisburg police officer, who encouraged her to shoot her husband.

Authorities said Severt and Roysdon began their affair when they met while working at Dayton Children’s Medical Center. Roysdon was a security officer supervisor, and Severt was a nurse and administrator. Roysdon was sentenced to 18 months in prison.

In 2012, Severt said he only had limited use of his left arm and faced daily, chronic pain. He will appear on Dr. Phil on Friday.

According to Dr. Phil producers, Charles “Ed” Severt is actually petitioning the courts to let his former wife out early.
