Man accused of firing into Dayton house with woman and 6-year-old boy inside

A 29-year-old man is accused of firing a gun from a car into a house with a woman and her 6-year-old son inside.

Terry M. Young III, 29, will be arraigned Tuesday in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court on two counts of felonious assault and three weapons charge; all but one of the five charges carries a three-year firearm specification, according to a grand jury report.

A woman told police she saw Young on Feb. 19 inside a maroon Chevrolet Impala driven by his girlfriend.

When they drove by her home in the 400 block of Huron Avenue in Dayton, Young rolled down his window and fired rounds at her and her son, according to an affidavit from Dayton police detective Justin Ellis filed in Dayton Municipal Court.

Detectives were able to ping Young’s cellphone, which led them to a Kettering apartment. There, police said in plain view was a shotgun with live rounds attached. Also, Young’s girlfriend allowed police to search the apartment, where they found the revolver used, and she admitted Young fired shots at the Huron home, according to the court documents.

Young has been in the Montgomery County Jail since his Feb. 19 arrest.
