Man accused of public indecency on UD campus

UPDATE @ 5:02 p.m.

University of Dayton police Chief Rodney Chatman said Tuesday it was a female student that made the original call to police to report a man engaged in lewd behavior by himself around 10:30 p.m. Sunday on campus in the north student neighborhood.

Chatman said officers were not able to locate the man following that call. But a second call came in shortly after from a different area of campus.

Officers were able to catch up to the man then after he was found hiding between vehicles.

“We hope that he gets the help he needs,” Chatman said. “I’m glad the apprehension was made.”

FIRST REPORT

A man convicted of exposing himself in a Sugarcreek Twp. park 10 years ago is in trouble again for the same crime.

Timmy Mays, 35, of Kettering, was arrested on the University of Dayton campus on Sunday and has been charged with nine counts of public indecency after he was arrested in the 400 block of Irving Avenue.

According to court records, Mays pleaded not guilty to the charges and an additional charge of obstructing official business.

Mays was previously convicted in October 2006 after he exposed himself in a Sugarcreek Twp. park while wearing women’s underwear.

In that case Mays was fined $250 and was banned from Greene County park property for three years.

Mays is expected back in Dayton Municipal Court next week in the University of Dayton case, court records indicated.

The 35-year-old is out of jail as of Tuesday morning.

We are working to learn more of the latest incident involving Mays and will update this story on the WHIO news app as additional details become available.
