Man arrested after cell phone store break-in

A teen is in custody after police said they found him fleeing a cell phone store break-in on Brown Street Monday morning.

18-year-old Eric Cole is now in the Montgomery County Jail pending a charge of breaking and entering. Police believe he and another man threw a rock through the window of the T-Mobile Store on Brown Street to steal phones.

Dayton police were dispatched to the cell phone store on Brown Street near the University of Dayton campus around 2:30 a.m. on reports of a break-in.

A witness at a nearby business reported that he saw two males jumping out of the store window, which they had smashed to gain entry to the cell phone store. The witness also gave police descriptions of the men.

University of Dayton police officers searched the area where the witness said the men ran and spotted Cole coming out of a yard. He the suspect description and was detained. He was later identified by the witness.

According to a police report, three cell phones were missing from the store. Several display cases in the store had been disturbed.

The second suspect was not located.
