Man sentenced to life in prison for apartment shooting that killed one, injured another

A man convicted in a Dayton apartment shooting that killed one and injured another was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison.

JaMichael Howard, 26, will not be eligible for parole until after serving at least 31 years, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office.

On Jan. 23, 2018, Howard reportedly shot from a vehicle at people in a second vehicle during a fight at Western Manor Apartments.

Darius Rayshawn Hall was struck and killed and a second victim was shot in the back.

A jury found Howard guilty of two counts of murder, felonious assault with a deadly weapon, felonious assault serious physical harm and discharge of a firearm on or near prohibited premises on Jan. 11.
