Meth-making materials found in Preble; 4 arrested

Four people are in the Preble County Jail after sheriff's deputies and parole officers discovered meth-making materials during the execution of a narcotics-related search warrant at a home in the 7300 block of East Factory Road.

According to the Preble County Sheriff's Office, officials found the materials in plain view, along with two handguns and three children on Thursday night. Those authorities also seized from an unattached garage equipment used to operate a meth lab.

The children -- ages 15, 14 and 12 -- have been turned over to family members. The case has been referred to Preble County Children Services.

The Preble County Prosecutor's Office has the investigation and charges are pending, according to the sheriff's office.

Arrested and jailed are:

  • Chod Clark, 40, detained on charges of assembly or possession of chemicals to manufacture drugs and child endangerment.
  • Shannon Smith, 41, detained on the same charges as Clark.

  • Regan Foust, 34, detained on a charge of having weapons as a felon. He also was being sought on an outstanding Warren County warrant.
  • Christopher Johnson, 49, was detained because he was being sought on an outstanding warrant out of Darke County.
