Middletown PD make 2 overnight drug arrests

Police made two drug arrests after the men involved in the call were found in possession of drugs.

Residents in the area of Goldman Avenue called police around 12:00 a.m. after they noticed a white vehicle parked in the middle of the road with a man passed out behind the wheel, Middletown Lt. Jim Cunningham said.

As officers responded to the call they noticed a Mitsubishi that had left a passenger out and the passenger was reaching into the driver's side of the white vehicle, Cunningham said.

The Mitsubishi fled the scene as officers arrived, but police later located its driver, Christopher Ray, at a residence in the 1500 block of Lafayette Avenue. Ray was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, an outstanding warrant and driving under suspension, Cunningham said.

The male driver of the white vehicle, Matthew Lewis, was intoxicated from either drugs or alcohol, according to Cunningham. Further investigation revealed Lewis to be in the possession of marijuana, drug abuse instruments and drug abuse paraphernalia, Cunningham said.

The passenger of the Mitsubishi was left at the Goldman Avenue scene, where he was questioned and later released.

Both Lewis and Ray were booked into the Middletown City Jail.
