A $1 million bond was set for a suspect accused in the August shooting death of another Dayton man, according to jail records.

The bond was set against Marvin Herron, 23, on Tuesday morning during an arraignment. It was his first appearance in court since being indicted by a Montgomery County Grand Jury on Thursday.

He is charged with two counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault and a count of discharge of a firearm on or near a prohibited premises.

Prosecutors said in a press release last week that on the night of Aug. 14, Dayton Police were dispatched to the scene of a single-vehicle crash in the vicinity of 1651 Needmore Road, in Dayton.

“Upon arrival, they located a severely injured man, victim Matthew Aalim, inside the vehicle. The victim was removed from the vehicle and was taken to Miami Valley Hospital, where it was learned he had been shot in the back of his head. The victim succumbed to his injuries,” the prosecutor’s office said.

The investigation led investigators to believe that a person in a second vehicle had fired the fatal shot.
